FAMILY SESSION: It's like 90 degrees...right??

I don't know about you, but having teenagers changes everything...

I was busy when my girls were little, but I never imagined that once we had one (and now we have two) into the teen years that life would just speed up even more...

When it came to scheduling family sessions this fall it was a delicate game of shifting and moving and juggling...

and that's just MY calendar...not to mention the calendars of my clients...

and so, even with the cold and wind, if we had a FREE day...we GRABBED it fast!

Thus it was for this lovely, fun-filled family...

We just pretended we were at Disney...with the cool breeze whipping through our princess hair...and the joyous sound of wind screeching past our ears as we came down roller coasters...

no matter that it was actually happening whilst we were just strolling along a pathway, bundled in winter jackets with not a sunburst in sight...

ahem

No matter my friends, this family CHOOSES joy...

We are all wired differently...and often, when hard circumstances have plagued us in the past, it can cause us to be cynical...I know I struggle with this...I'm a "threat forecaster"...I'm a queen of "what ifs" and I can spot a "problem" a mile away...it takes purposeful, intentional, prayerful awareness to make a CHOICE to look at situations and say, "We're going to make the most of this and make it the BEST it can be because we are together!!!"

I DO know that life is fleeting...and while struggles may come, it's in the JOURNEY (and I'm not trying to be cliche') it's in the focus on the things for which we can be grateful...

ALL.THINGS.POSITIVE. came out of the mouths of each member of this family...

from high school sweethearts, to kitty cat headbands, to varsity jackets...

they SEE the POSITIVE...they CHOOSE the JOY...

people, it was FREEZING during their session...

but not ONE complaint from any of them...even down to the youngest...

It was an absolute pleasure...we jumped and flossed and dabbed our way through this session with laughter and smiles...

Each one was content in the BEing...

that's some good parenting and role modeling right there folks...

I'm not saying it's always perfect...because: humans!

but, it was a pleasure spending time with them...making a memory...hopefully one that they won't soon forget...but that will be looked upon as a HAPPY occurrence...

as in, 'remember that time we pretended it was 90 degrees and we were in winter coats and mom wanted pictures???'

THAT WAS AWESOME!!!
