FAMILY SESSION: Movin' on...

They wanted a session for the "last" time while here in the Columbus area...

Ohio has been their home, but they were saying goodbye and wanted a special way to memorialize it...to make it special...

They made this place their home...but, they know in their hearts that home is really just where they are all together...no matter the location...

and that's what we focused on...

the smiles and giggles...the hugs and silliness...the joys of being together...

and then, at the end, they broke out the O-H-I-O

FAMILY SESSION: undone by cuteness

I look forward to their call every fall...

I'm always ready for the adventure set before me by this little man...

One year, he had me in the river...LITERALLY IN THE RIVER, to the tops of my rainboots...

His smile is catching and you can't help buy stare at his lovable face!!!

His momma dresses him snazzy for these little picture taking opportunities but, it's his personality that shines through...

his curious, adventurous heart steals the show...

if I would have had a son, I think I'd rather have liked it if he were like this little guy...

FAMILY SESSION: Yes, they are real eyes

The first time I posted these pictures for a sneak peek back in the fall, the first thing people said was, "Are those his real eyes?...did you do something to them?"

Ummm...NO...no I did not...

those are truly his big, beautiful, blue eyes that twinkle and sparkle with that adorable smile!!!

I remember their brotherly shenanigans and I loved them for it...

Being a mom of boys takes a lot of energy...all of my SILs tell me this is absolutely and unquestionably true!  After sessions like these, I would have to agree...but, I'd like to add that man oh man, do they bring the FUN and ADVENTURE into life...I am a tad jealous of the excitement they get to enjoy on a daily basis...

keeps things poppin' and I love when there is never a dull moment!

They may have that vigor and that liveliness, but they also demonstrated a sweet compassion for their momma and their family general...

It was a blessing to behold!

FAMILY SESSION: They make me Happy!

Everytime I come back to this session, I get a huge smile on my face...

I've had my share of sibling rivalry...I've encountered my own childhood, my own children along with extended family...I've seen "siblings" interact...

We all know that when you put numerous individuals in one house, there are bound to be "challenges"...

Human nature demonstrates that there MUST be challenges...

However, when I met these kiddos, I'm not sure you'd believe that sentiment...

They had me laughing and running and goofing off immediately and I couldn't even help myself!

Being a big sister myself (aka patting myself on the back) I wish I could attribute the wonder of sibling love to the fact that I was such a wonderful role model to my younger siblings...but this gal blows me out of the water...(and truth be known, I wasn't even close to what we'd like to call a "roll model"...we might refer to it as "bossy", but we'll leave that for another day)

Their smiles are contagious and I think you'll enjoy them as much as I did...

FAMILY SESSION: big sis

Yesterday I wrote a post about a family with a surprise announcement at the end of the post!

A lot sure can happen in a year...

This family is about to become a family of FOUR!
as in 'any day now'...

I love the family dynamics and how this "soon to become big sister" shares her laughter & love so easily...she struck me right off as not only a sweet & compliant daughter, but someone who loves to make others smile...loves to give of herself to make others happy...

It was a pleasure and joy to interact with them on this day...and I've been following on Instagram ever since...

SENIOR SESSION: Lizzie

introspective, insightful, talented, kind, generous, soulful...

I could sit here and list what seems like a gazillion adjectives to describe Lizzie...

I'm only just getting to know her as her momma & I have become fast friends...and the more time I spend with her mom, the more I realize the incredible investment they have put into this girl...

spurring her on with ingenuity, encouragement, opportunity and more than anything else...unconditional LOVE!!!

She's off in a couple weeks to Berklee in Boston because she won an amazing scholarship to attend their very sought after summer music program.  The amount of work necessary to even apply for this scholarship was more than I've ever heard of and the competition was immense!  However, she's a person who puts everything she's got into pretty much everything she does...it's reminiscent of the Energizer Bunny...

If you'd like to listen to any of her music you can find it HERE (along with free downloads)
and if after listening, you'd like to help her on her way to Berklee this summer, please consider it HERE

And just so we're clear...Meghan Trainor is also a graduate of this Berklee Summer Scholarship program!!! This is BIG TIME people!

Lizzie...I can't wait to see where God sends you girl!!!
I'm beyond thrilled and excited for you...you'll find me in the cheering section with your momma, lovin' and rootin' for you!!!

FAMILY SESSION: it was COLD in December

The morning that I sat down to write this blog post, Chris Bradley of 10TV news had this to say:

This made me giggle a little bit because here I am sitting down to write a post about a family at a Christmas Tree farm from back in December...here in the midwest (I have to clarify this because I'm guessing that it's pretty much hot year round in a place...say, like Florida or something)

Anyway...it made me giggle, which then turned into all out huge grins when I got to reminiscing about this family...

They had some exciting news to share (see the last pic) at this session and earlier this summer, their little girl made her appearance...

This little guy is going to be a fantastic big brother...showin' little sis not only all the ropes, but how to belly laugh, how to do squeeze-tight hugs and love with all you've got!

InHOME LIFESTYLE: This is HOME

As soon as I wrote this blog post title Switchfoot's song started playing in my head...

It's one of my favorite songs...and it coincides with a favorite movie...which then leads me to C.S. Lewis and the Narnia stories...

It's not that it amazes me...but more I suppose I stand in awe when someone recognizes the true meaning of "being here"...

it's about relationship...it's about belonging to something bigger than ourselves...

It's not about playing house, or "dying with the most toys"...it's not about a social status of success or how many "rights" and "good things" you can accomplish on your list to "becoming...

You are HOME when you recognize you are YOU for a reason...for a purpose...

You are HOME when you understand that you do BELONG...
and sometimes that "belonging" means letting go of other things that seem important to others
and it means BEING exactly WHO you are...

You are HOME when you realize that love is worth the fight, the hard work, the sacrifice...

...........................

I so enjoy meeting up with this family...they create an environment of ease in their home...
There is a sense of a belonging when you walk into their space...

Big brother came first, with little sister following not too far behind...family dynamics are fluid and change with each season...

it takes sacrifice and commitment and LOVE...

and these character qualities are evident in every interaction I have with them...
