Stan the MAN (or dinosaur)

I've said it before and I"ll say it again...

Families are my niche!

I thoroughly enjoy spending time with families...we get things "lightly" posed and then things just take off...conversations happen, laughter begins, moments appear!

I met up with this family at one of my favorite places to photograph...we started walking around and making small talk as I watched Mom & Dad interact with their little guy...

I love the "natural-ness" of them all...the comfortable awareness of just "BE-ing"...Their little guy warmed up fast and it was extremely evident, the quiet confidence and assurance that had been built into this young one...I say this because, even in one so young, there is a respectful awareness that he has for his Mommy & Daddy, and yet along with that, he has a confidence to be all that he can be within their loving boundaries.

I am so very encouraged when I get to see this first hand...There is no rule book for parenting...every child is different...but, I utterly admire those that dedicate themselves to instilling character values into their kiddos at this young and impressionable age!

Stan, the dinosaur, made an appearance...or perhaps I should say that Stan had fun riding on my shoulder and getting little man to smile.  Stan also likes to "eat treats" for being such a good dinosaur for the photo shoot.  Therefore, we had to give him a spotlight picture as well!

(I wonder if his picture will make it to the family wall...hmmmm?)

Sometimes I just get going and have such a great time that it isn't until I see (the last picture) through my lens and realize that all our giggling and running and having fun has tuckered everyone out...and after over 100 snaps we bring it all to a close...

I am so thankful for these fun opportunities with amazing people!!

Love you to the moon...

After I had my first daughter, it was beyond my understanding how I could ever love another child as much as I loved her...

and yet, we wanted more children...I just didn't understand how my heart could get any bigger, how it could hold this same powerful love for another child...

And yet...it happens...

Somehow, you have this little one first, and everything is new..you are suddenly a family of 3...

but, when #2 comes along, you wonder about the dynamics, and how you will handle it, how you will split your time...will you have to split your heart too?

with confidence I can say...NO...your heart does not split, it just multiples...

This little girl came into this family being a little sister...big brother had already made his debut awhile back...and now Mommy & Daddy's hearts are being multiplied...big brother is learning how to sacrifice time & energy, but in that sacrifice comes a multiplied heart that is able to give and love in bigger ways...

It is a house full..full of love, and happiness, and understanding...

A family on a journey together...discovering the powerful reality that they are in this all together...the memories they form and build from here on out are theirs alone...and it's bond that strengthens with each day...

Here's to "loving you to the moon and back"...

REILLY:Senior Pics

Intelligent, confident, "smiley", insightful, lovely...

just a few words to describe this young lady, who has worked extremely hard to finish high school EARLY! She not only "wowed" me with her musical talent on 2 different instruments,  her singing and how she demonstrated how remarkably close she is with her family...

But, she impressed me as well, with that fact that she is well-versed and articulate..she is mature beyond her years, and yet can "hoop-it-up" with the best of them in her own age bracket...

I was privileged to spend the afternoon/evening with this wonderful family.  They each have passions of their own, that they each pursue...and yet, I watched how they interact, support and encourage one another in those separate endeavors, so that they become a powerful unit...together!

What a blessing and honor to know them all!!

Little Ladies

I've been photographing these little ladies for LOTS of years already...before littlest sister was even born...

They are beauties...

Let's just be honest...

It could be attributed to their flawless skin, twinkling eyes, flowing hair...

But, I would say it has to do with their ability to LAUGH and SMILE and the utter JOY that bubbles out of them on a continual basis...

Our times spent together are filled with LOTS of laughing and running and twirling and dancing...

I hope they make you smile too :)

Much Too Long

I can't believe that I've let the blogging go again...it's what I LOVE to do...it's probably 50% of the joy of being able to have this job is to TALK about all the wonderful-ness of the people I meet...

But, end of school...and big family reunion vacation...and big cleanse kick...and ...here we are..it's June, and I've still not blogged about these awesome families from APRIL!!!

So, I'm going to kick it into gear I tell you!!!

Let me introduce this lovely family.  I met them back when it was just the 3 of them...we met in a little park up north and I chased and played with their son...we laughed and it was perfect...

I was thrilled to hear that she was pregnant a year or so later, so we met again to document those beautiful moments...and again, I was captivated by their young son, who so tenderly cherished his momma...even with his rough and tumble-ness...it was his gentleness that always got me...

Which brings us to April...their daughter had arrived and was celebrated her first birthday...I wondered how "big brother" would handle his new role...and I need not have feared...they have done an incredible job parenting this young man...he has a very lucky little sister, and that's putting it lightly...

What a splendid time we had...what a joy to spend time with people who have trained their children in such a way that their kids have a strong respect and bond with them, and their siblings...it makes for not just pleasant interactions, but relationships are strengthened and memories are made, because hearts are all in the right place to start!

I hope you'll enjoy what you see:
