TAYLOR: Senior Pics

"the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." ~ I Peter 3:4

I love that verse...

Although I struggled with it in college.  You see, I thought that a gentle, quiet spirit meant that I couldn't be my extroverted self...I thought it meant that I had to go around and try to look "holy" and use a mousy voice instead of my huge guffaw laughter and nonsensical humor...In other words, I felt that there must be no hope for me to be "of great worth" because I didn't fall in line with the personality traits in the Bible...

Thank goodness I was wrong...

There are so many people so very concerned with appearance...saying the right thing, acting just the right way...being popular or having the right connections...I'm not saying that we shouldn't shower or get our hair colored...I'm not saying we shouldn't enjoy those around us...

but, I firmly believe we were created for relationship!  And relationships are made from the heart, from the soul of a person...and a "gentle and quiet spirit" is one that is able, even in their FUN interactions, to recognize the "heart" of others...They are able to discern situations in order to make kind and thoughtful choices...

I saw this evidenced in Taylor...She is already beautiful on the outside...she was blessed with gorgeous genes, but, in just our short time together, I recognized a gentleness of spirit in her...an ability through conversation and laughter, to see such a purity of heart...not someone that never does wrong, but someone who walks in grace...Oh, that we would all learn to accept ourselves and others in that light!

You are blessed gal!!!  Beautiful inside and out!!

And baby makes...five?

We all have those ideas in our heads of those perfect pictures with our young children...We know that our toddlers are A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. and then you add that wee one in there...that newbie with all their floppy limbs and double chins...

We know that our toddlers will have some sweet (or completely goofy) expression that will bring a smile to our face...and then we add in the baby and cross our fingers that he or she won't look like a sack of potatoes...

I've been there...

When my third daughter was born, I had them all dressed up in sweet matching outfits...my older two had bows and barrettes in their hair...my newborn was basically bald, obviously couldn't sit up and with all the kicking and stretching, her outfit wasn't exactly "staying on her body well"...

But, it's life...it's the season...they don't stay like that forever...

infact, give it about 3 months and it completely changes...AGAIN...

But, that's the joy in the journey of life...toddlers that play peek a boo and little boys with mischievous grins...it's what makes life sweet!

We got the "typical" sibling and family pictures...you MUST get these...it's part of the initiation into family life...

but, we also got some personality and moments that are fleeting...

I think you'll enjoy  :)

KAYLA: Senior Pics

She'll be graduating this year...

We took these photos in the fall...and she'll be getting her diploma in just a few short months...

My how time flies...

I met her and her mom through a friend...

Down to earth, energetic, confident, kind in soul, optimistic, driven

I know, I only met her this one time...and maybe I'm wrong, but those are the words that I would use to describe her...that's what I see when I look back at these pictures and I see the happy in her eyes staring back at me from the screen...

do you see it too?

Amazing people heading out into our world...to make it a better place...to invest in the lives of others...

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes...because it will be nothing less than astounding :)

SEVEN

Haven't I read somewhere that Seven is God's number?

Whether that is biblical or not, the fact of the matter is that these children are adorable..and what an incredible blessing to be siblings!  I can't even imagine their future reunions and the FUN that will be had in this family!

this was a quick session...I mean, let's be honest, how can you expect to take a long time trying to round up 7 little bodies in one spot?  You can't, so you improvise and laugh and depend on those olders to help you out when they can...

They are a sweet bunch and I was so fortunate to have met them!

If you know me at all, you know that I am the proud momma to 3 beautiful daughters.

It has baffled me, in the past, that God gave me 3 girls.  I am a former teacher and therefore, I know my way around a classroom filled with chatter box children whilst trying to instill in them reading, writing, arithmetic...and a speckling of the meaning of life...

And while in that classroom, pretty much 100% I was better able to deal with nurture the boys as opposed to the girls. I don't know if it's because I grew up with a brother or if I just wasn't much of a "girly girl" myself...but I found myself more interested in playing dodgeball with the boys on my recess duty, rather than fitting into the tight circle giggling with the girls.  I'm not saying that I don't love my 3 princesses...I just found it ironic that God saw fit to grace me with those beauties and didn't see the need to fit a boy in there somewhere in the lineup :)

therefore, as you've heard me say it time and time again, I have a soft place in my heart when I get to photograph newborn boys...

Their personalities already peek through and I find myself often wondering what kind of men they will be...will they be gentle leaders...will they be confident and generous...will they love on their mommas unabashedly and regard their daddys with utmost respect?  So much future...so many hopes and dreams...

I met this couple after they had their firstborn, daughter.  This is a couple that adores one another...yes they love their children...but the home for their heart lies in one another...and THAT my friends, is key to the future hopes for your children...the legacy that they already are making for their little girl and boy is amazing...and it's already marked along the way from their own parents...the truths and love that have been passed down...

This little guy is named after his Grandfather...what an inheritance he has...I'm not talking monetarily, but in character and gentleness of heart...I am in awe that this couple already recognizes the importance of passing down those legacies...and continuing to strengthen the bonds of family...

My heart is full:)

Angel Baby

This sweet munchkin is already more than halfway to finishing her first year.

Yes, that is how far behind I am on my blogging...

Oh my, it's not that I don't thoroughly enjoy raving about my incredible clients...nor is it because I don't have a penchant for writing...

I'll be completely honest...my fall was so rigorous in my sessions, coupled with soccer games and practices to attend...that, once we survived through the holidays, I was sooo craving the luxury of just sitting down and doing nothing, or just reading a book for hours on end,  umm, cleaning my house and organizing things and stuff...
not reading...nope...I've been productive...that's me...time management guru!!!

My list is still long and it brings me such joy to reminisce about these sessions...the laughs and personality quirks that so often surface whilst I"m piling leaves on my head and sneezing them off with great guffaws in order to procure a squeal of delight now and then :)

It's moments with newborns that get me the most though...the sweet smell of newness and the softest skin in the universe...

This little lady is one of my favorites...but mostly because her mommy is one of my faves as well...I've talked about her before HERE and HERE  So really, there's not much else to say except that I love her and her family!  I hope you'll enjoy their little beauty!

Longtime Friends

I hope everyone has a friendship like this...

One where, you can be apart for a long while...each doing "life" in their own way...

but, when you get a phone call or you meet unexpectedly in a grocery parking lot, you just pick up where you left off last time...

I appreciate her honesty, her just tellin' it like it is...I admire her passion and drive for her family...she is a constant stream of energy and spark...and when you watch them all together, you'll see how she's just the glue that keeps it all together...

Our husbands have been friends for even far longer than we...and it's so fun to see "life lived" for our friends, on the other side of high school :)

I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I have...

Anyone Tired of Snow yet?

Remember when the temperature was above zero?

Remember when your face didn't hurt when you went outside?

Remember when the tires of your car stayed inflated and you didn't have to drive up to Costco and park in front of the garage and wait until someone came out because your hands were already frozen to the steering wheel and then they would come and put air in your tires for you and you thanked God you lived in a world where air was free, but questioned why you lived in a place where your face hurt when you went outside?

Okay, so maybe you aren't "struggling" with the cold as much as I am, but regardless, I'm missing the energy of warmer weather...the part of the year when you get outside and get to be WITH people!

This family was one that I loved BEING with...I've known them since the 'ole college days.  She's always been beautiful...she hasn't really changed...NOPE...not one bit...and to top it off, she really is the whole package!  She's confident and hilarious...she's loving and generous...she knows how to pull a prank, but will walk a mile in your shoes with you too!  I LOVE when I get a call asking for me to photograph her family once again!

Personalities just seem to appear in every image...(you'll see what I mean in a moment)...

The amazing thing is that although perhaps personalities stay relatively the same, there is a change that occurs in everyone through time...I know, I know...I JUST said that she hasn't changed a bit...and she hasn't in that "personality" sense...but I would venture to say, that hearts have grown wiser and bigger with love for family...boys don't just get taller, but over time you see little glimpses of wisdom and maturity gleaming in their eyes...love for each other either grows or wanes, it doesn't just stay stagnant...it's that ebb and flow of life...and I am privileged when I get to just capture a few moments, so that it stands still...so you can look back and remember and see how far you've come...and know the hope of the future as well!
