FULL FAMILY SESSION: Just keep laughing...

I met up for this Full Family Session right in the middle of those crazy rain storms that kept popping up a little while back...it would seem beautiful and then quick as a wink, the skies would change to dark and the rain started pelting...

Infact, on my drive to meet up with everyone, the rain was drenching my vehicle and it wasn't until I was about 2 streets away that I could see the sun on the other side of the wall of rain.

I wasn't sure how it was going to play out, but with generations coming together for just a specific amount of time, you jump through whatever hoops necessary to make it happen!

And so, even when those clouds wanted to follow me to the park and we had to pull out the umbrellas, they kept smiling...

They kept laughing through the thunder and the dark skies...

they kept that good humor even whilst the raindrops landed on our shirts and put spots on my camera lenses...

And you know what?  We had so much fun!

Yes, it was hot,
Yes, it was rainy,
Yes, the sun was shining so brightly at one point and then disappeared at another...

but, circumstances don't have to determine your attitude and this entire gang took it in stride...

I loved the way they interacted with one another..how they were game for anything and how they genuinely gave it all they had without complaint, worry or doomsday for the weather...

AND, because of their beautiful hearts and their love for one another...we were able to capture moments that will last a lifetime...

INHOME Session: PS I love you

I have some nursery jealousy going on over here.

I never knew what my babies' genders were before they were born...AND apparently I have no maternal instincts either because I could have sworn they were all going to be boys...

And so...all 3 nurseries were painted BLUE and donned in gender-neutral decor...and I must admit, it was rather boring to say the least.

At least I think so now, looking back all these years later and see these AHHHHMazing nurseries set up with such  thoughtfulness and care!

I would have felt VERY comfortable spending inordinate amounts of time in a baby room if it looked like the one I stepped into last week...

It's calming, soothing and gentle...

and that's exactly the type of home they have outside this little nursery too...

Big brother is self-aware, and kind-hearted, polite and an absolute darling little man!

I know that bringing a 2nd baby into the home rather rocks your world, but Jamie & her hubby have handled it with grace...

I mean, when, at the end of the session, he's making me this delicious "poor-steamed-water-over-freshly-ground-coffee-beans" drink that I can actually drink straight up and LOVE...

ummm, YES, they are doing FABULOUS job with their newest addition!

AND that's even with a giant goldendoodle in the mix of it all as well!

I was and am impressed on all accounts...I think they make an excellent team and are doing a fantastic job raising these little humans (and goldendoodle :)

SENIOR SESSION: Kathleen

It takes a lot of grit, confidence, perseverance and courage to get to the top.

It doesn't mean that it comes without a level of trepidation from time to time...it doesn't come without choices having to be made, crossroads being met, or even failures & setbacks.

I think the thing that impresses me about Kathleen isn't that she's an amazing tennis athlete, or that she appears self-reliant and bold...although those things are true, it's more about the fact that she's on the road to knowing WHO she is and feeling comfortable in her own skin.

I've got lots of years on this gal, and I'll tell you that to be vulnerable, to be real...it takes a lot of deciding that what others think, doesn't matter...it takes realizing that you are more than the mistakes you make or successes that you achieve...

Success is awesome, but it doesn't define you...and as I spend time with Kathleen and I watch her and I listen to her really cool plans for the future... I am impressed!

She's got an underlying foundation in her soul...(I know that may sound old fogey or grandiose, but it's real) It doesn't mean that she's perfect or that she's even got it all figured out...it's just that she gives it all she's got, she doesn't let others define who she is and yet, she has a tender heart that allows herself to be guided and teachable when the time is right...

I plan to sit back and watch this girl soar!

SENIOR SESSION: Jordan Class of 2018

The first thing I noticed about Jordan were her eyes...I called them green, although some might argue with me and claim them hazel...

regardless, they sparkle...

I do believe that if Jordan lost the ability to vocalize her thoughts, you could read and see her heart through her eyes...

I gathered, from our short time together, that she is rather introspective and perceptive. She has such a polite demeanor and in genuinely tuned into what someone is expressing.  I so appreciated her sweet "thank yous" and willingness to try anything I suggested. Her gentle, trusting nature was refreshing and I was content to showcase this amazing gal's character all evening!

She's got exciting plans for her future...and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to meet up with her!

Congratulations Jordan!!!

SENIOR SESSION: Caleb Class of 2018

Do you ever wonder why society is so enamored with beautiful imagery?

I know we are a "selfie" world but, as I think about my IG account and Facebook...the things that stop me in my tracks aren't silly selfies or random snapshots...they are storytelling portraits...

images that are beautiful, bright, bold, happy, and meaningful...

these are the types of pictures that stop my finger from scrolling my mouse or swiping my screen...

I see a sparkle in eyes, or a laugh that I can almost hear, or place where I feel like I can be apart...

I know that guys aren't all that into Senior photos...and I get it...it's time away from stuff that is of more interest and they aren't all into the "look at me" thing...and that's cool...

at the same time, I appreciate their parents desire to remember this special time...to them, their Son stops them in their tracks, and they want to remember that feeling, that smile, that laugh...

Caleb knows what he likes and gets excited to talk about the things that interest him...and at the same time, he is present in conversation, genuinely interested in others and incredibly respectful & kind.

His session centered about places that have helped form him into the young man he is today...whether it be the track & field, or the high school, his own backyard or their special Narnia...I was honored and privileged to be let in on the secret, the special family areas that will forever hold their hearts.
