FAMILY SESSION: Boys will be Boys

You've heard me say it before...

I don't have sons, so I can never really claim to know what it's like to raise/parent boys...

I taught in the classroom for a number of years and I can attest to their "energy" and "liveliness"  :)

They also tended to be my favorites (I know, I know...teachers aren't supposed to have favorites...but sometimes you just can't help it!)  The boys, in some ways, were easier than the girls when it came to drama and letting things go, in order to get back to the task at hand and having FUN!

I think that's what I was drawn to most growing up too...

My guy friends had a way of helping me focus on what was most important...

I tend to get caught up in the little things that seem REALLLLLY big at the moment...but, once I can sit back and see the big picture, all of a sudden, those little details that arefrustrating me...they aren't that big anymore...and suddenly, I'm caught up in the moment...in the HAPPY of the seconds that are passing and I'm able to soak up the JOY of just being together!

Please don't misunderstand me...I am not sure what I would do without my girlfriends that are in my life right now...perhaps age helps tone us all down a bit too...I'm not sure...

What I do know, is that we don't have all that much control over the things that we think we do...

The best that each of us can do, is to embrace the moments we are given...work hard and go after the goals & dreams that we envision...at the same time, learn to let go and be free to run across a field at break neck speed, topple over fences and even lose our shoes in the laughter...

I can't begin to express the FUN we had this morning with these 2 little guys, mom & dad and Callie (the dog) Their backyard is a haven...and a photographer's dream with all the space to run and race and tackle and fly! These little boys are full of energy and HAPPY!  And Callie is the "sister" that helps Mommy not feel alone as the only girl in the house! I love this wonderful family...I love their dynamics, the way they show love to one another...their grace & patience & teamwork!

I was so inspired by their STORY, that I had to make a WALL (you've heard me call it a WALLEEN...wall of Colleen pictures) If only all the walls of our homes could tell the story of our lives...

Each story is unique and belongs only to us...

What a precious gift!
