FAMILY SESSION: same name

I may not have ever mentioned the reasoning behind the names of our daughters...

back during those "child-bearing years", I happened to not only love family names, but names that had nicknames to them...

I grew up not really having a nicknames...
other than the LOVELY epithet that my middle school "friends" deemed me with: COW

You see, with COLLEEN, there isn't a natural nickname to which to refer...

And so...I was and am forever, Colleen...

So, when I had kids, I wanted them  to have  'grown up' name along with a nickname...AND it had to coincide with a family name as well...

which looking back, is kind of interesting in that, when you use family names it basically means that someone a long, long, long time ago decided a certain name was cool and now you are "forced" to "like" it...

I wonder if that's how it feels for the royal family...

hmmm?

Anyway, before I got off on a tangent of all things Kate Middleton, let me get back to the topic at hand.

So, my daughters all have family names...

usually first or middle names of grandparents or great grandparents...

for our middle girl, however, we actually consulted with a family tree on my husband's side...
that extensive Italian side of the family...

And we found a name of a great aunt and then mixed some letters around to combine multiple great grandparent names for her middle name...

Why do I mention all this?

Because our middle girl's name isn't one you hear very often...in fact, I only knew of one other girl that has her same first name, but she spelled it differently...

Therefore, when I met this family and their youngest announced her name, I was taken aback...
She even spelled it the same way!!!

And that's when they reminded me of the meaning of her name...

"Jehovah is God"

It was a special reminder...
especially during this upcoming holiday season...

I'm so thankful for families with hearts in tune to Truth...
with boldness to speak their hearts...
with integrity to model for their children...

Here are just a few more teasers from our time together!
