FAMILY SESSION: another one

Each child comes into a different family...even if it's the same...

wow...

That really doesn't make sense at all does it?

What I mean is that everytime another child joins a family, the dynamics change...roles change...SLEEP changes...

what once was "how things are"...well, it's not that way anymore...

The people are the same, yes...but, there is something added to the mix...and that changes the "flavor" of everything...

I once was an only child...and then came my brother and then a sister and then another sister...

Each time, my role as big sister changed in a new way...I gained new responsibilities and other times, I learned more compassion...I sacrificed time with my mom that used to be all mine...but, I gained relationships with siblings that last a lifetime...

I'm so often reminded of the time that is passing...the new experiences, new perspectives that arise in my daughters...and I learn to ebb and flow with it...

I'm thankful for frozen moments in time...to remember "how it used to be"...

Not because I long to return to a different time, but to savor the way things were, while looking forward to all that is ahead...

It's not just going to be the "two boys" much longer...

and though the excitement is just on the horizon, I can tell that they are enjoying the moments now!
