Childhood Unplugged

It only takes a few minutes...

I roll...or rather, stagger out of bed in the morning...

It's typically because I'm a late night person and I stay up until midnight blogging or editing or listening to photography podcasts once everyone else in my home goes to sleep...

However, I'm a MOM...so I don't get the luxury of just sleeping in until noon to make up for it..

therefore...

I STAGGER out of bed in the morning...bed head, bad breath, one sock on while the other is lost somewhere in the sea of sheets that I've wrestled with all night long (or that my hubby has stolen...AHEM)

I can't honestly say that I'm "chipper" in the morning...

I try...I really do...but it comes out more like this:

I head to the kitchen to clean up the counters and find shoes for my girls and make my baby girl's lunch...I get caught up with watching Instagram and Facebook scroll across my phone while my K-cup is filling up my coffee mug...

Today, a picture looped through my IG feed and it struck a nerve with me...

Even though I tend to be in a fog in the mornings, those small moments are still opportunities that I have been given with my girls...

time to interact, converse, laugh, ask questions...

and today:

TIME TO JUMP ON THE BED

Why you ask?

Because we could...because we had 2 extra minutes..because testing was last week and this week and lots of weeks coming up for my older girls...
Because the nice weather is coming and I'll start to get busy with photography and I want to grasp at the moments I have available...any chance I get...
Because I want my legacy to be with my girls that "Mom was CRAZY...Oh, she had rules, she expected obedience, but she knew how to have FUN..."

Jumping on the bed may not be your thing...

maybe it's just sitting next to them at the breakfast nook while they are eating their cereal and speaking to them in a British accent :)

maybe it's showing off your "dance moves" while scrambling eggs or fixing their lunch

maybe it's just being PRESENT, even if your head is in a fog and your coffee isn't finished yet...

Whatever it is...I hope you'll just DO IT...
