Friends for Life...{SEEing ME}

I assume when people think of "friends" they think of those people that are of like minds...ones they can chat with, go out to parties with, laugh, drink, goof around with...

it goes without saying that friends are people that you LIKE to be around...

You CHOOSE them.

Family...they just come with the package...you don't get a choice with family...they are just part of your "crazy" and sometimes that can cause a level of stress for some...

And then there are those that are FRIENDS that CHOOSE to be a part of your CRAZY and BECOME FAMILY...

This couple (and now their family) have become part of our family...we are aunts/uncles to all our girls and the kiddos consider each other cousins...

This changes the dynamic...

You see with friends, there is a sort of unseen boundary...you talk about sports, weather, kids, politics, what have you...but, you don't necessarily get into the nitty gritty...you don't bare it all because there are some "privacy" things...and still a level of wanting to be accepted...approved of

We tore down those barriers many years ago with these friends...

These are the people we are raw and real with...we can say, "here's our crap" and they say, "well, here's ours too"...

Don't get me wrong, we LAUGH and we laugh HARD...and we whoop it up with the best of them...I can't tell you how much incredible fun we have with them...but at the same time, we have this unbreakable bond...an accountability...

These are the people that we DO chat about sports and clothes and vacations...but, we also dig deep about our fears, struggles, parenting, finances...

We live life together...and we help carry each others' burdens at times...and we're also each others' biggest cheerleaders...

I do not take for granted the relationships we have forged with them...She is my opposite, as G is to my Anthony...which is probably why we all work so well together...

We spent last week just chilling...both of our families have big things on the horizons...both of us going through our own "journeys" at present as well...

Last week was a time of late night talks, day time excursions, morning walks, and pool side drinks & laughter...

It was refreshing, beautiful, and a wonderful God-gift to both our families!

Here are some of the pictures..

We dropped our older girls off at Lake Ann Camp
and then headed to our rented place in Bellaire, Michigan

The grounds & facilities were amazing at Shanty Creek Resorts
So, we definitely took some time to talk around and many days at the pools.

We took a day trip to Old Mission Point Lighthouse
where we did a LOT of rock stacking!!

On our way back we stopped at Chateau Chantal because my Italian husband's heritage could not pass it up!!! We spent a glorious hour there enjoying the scenery and the tastes!

Our next day excursion was spent at Mackinac Island where we biked the 8.2 miles around...it was amazing!  We even stepped the 207 stairs to see Arch Rock and got some ice cream at British Landing...We couldn't leave without MI fudge...Our ride home on StarLines was an unexpected treat...we were first on the delayed ferry and therefore got top deck and a bonus ride UNDER the Mackinac bridge before we headed into the mainland...the girls tried to "reach" to touch the bridge (you'll see the pics below)

Our last day was spent at a beach where we grilled out and then finished off the evening with dips in the pool.  We picked up the girls from camp Saturday morning and drove home.

I'm up to my armpits in laundry, but wouldn't change our time away for the world!

my niece is a girl of all smiles...and LOTS of energy...had to get this in here :)

we began with a little picnic on the green...

seriously, stacking rocks is HUGE!

G had a little mishap on the bike...but never fear...Island AAA came to the rescue :)

twinning with my bestie...sister of my heart...love her!

doin' her best "king of the world" on the top deck of the ferry with her daddy!
