One day at a Time
So often I think I get caught up in the "future"...and the planning...
I've got girls heading to middle school next year, I worry about their college and retirement for my husband...I worry whether I'm making them read enough for the summer so that they'll be ready to go to school in the fall...I concern myself with so many things sometimes...
it's not that those things aren't important...THEY ARE!!!
But, I'm coming to realize that just loving Jesus, in the moment...in the day to day...is perhaps a better perspective than spending my energies rushing around and trying to create a "perfect" atmosphere and plan for our future...
I love meeting families like this one...I arrived at the park and there was Momma, handing tiny niblets to her little man...just chatting while the sun was slowly coming down in the sky...just enjoying the moment...
I typically come to a photo session with a "go get 'em" attitude...geared up for excitement and anticipation of the narrative that will inevitably unfold...but this time the "start" was different...
and it was a welcome diversion from my typical approach...
I sat and watched and listened and chatted there in the grassy field...
just moms...together...watching her little guy stuff those yummies into his mouth with pure joy...
Thinking back to that day, I am reminded about living just that one day at a time...remembering to watch for those insignificant moments...to step away from the bustle and worry...to BE present...to remember to WHOM I belong and bask in that love & value...
I thoroughly enjoyed our time together...the ease of it...the silliness and the laughter...the hugs and the authenticity...
I think you'll see what I mean...
thank you for exemplifying your love for Jesus in just BEING who you are...for your love and commitment to each other and your family...it is a privilege to know you! ~Colleen
