A Few of My Faves Spring 2018
It may not come as a surprise to you that I'm rather easily entertained...
It appears that I've passed this trait onto my daughters as well...
During Spring Break, the girls and I spent one night at a hotel in a nearby town, about 20 minutes from our own home. My husband tends to travel A.LOT. and while we all detest this aspect of his profession, we are thankful for the perks that it affords...such as hotel and airfare points!
Due to his accumulation of said "points" he achieved a "free night" that was about to expire. Since we weren't planning on traveling anywhere for Spring Break, we thought it would be fun to have a "girls night" at a local hotel...read: SWIM.
I begin my story this way because as we entered said hotel, the squeals of delight that escaped the mouths of all the womenfolk in our household could be heard throughout the entire lobby and probably entire main floor. We exclaimed over the carpet, over the lounge, over the elevator music...I won't go into detail but you can well imagine the scene when we discovered the raining showerhead and fluffy pillows piled high on each of the beds...
All this to say, "we are easily amused"!
Because of that, I sometimes come "late to the game" in the arena of fashion, fitness, sports, latest news...
okay, basically anything...I'm usually still excited over the fact that I found an extra Cadbury egg hidden in a crumpled up bag rather than scrolling through the twitter feed for the up-to-the-minute gossip or trend.
That said, my "newest" faves may be 'old hat' to some of you...however, if you find yourself in my boat of obliviousness, then welcome aboard and enjoy the stay...
Here are some of my recent discoveries that have brought me such JOY...I'm literally tickled pink that they are in my possession and although it's not as if they are lifesavers or even "time" savers...they are just FUN little finds that make life all the more enjoyable...
First on the list are these Scentportables from B&BWorks My daughter was gifted the cute one on the left as a belated birthday gift for use in whatever vehicle she is allowed to utilize. There are really adorable little containers, but I went "cheap" and got the generic one...(mostly b/c hubby drives my van and I figured he wouldn't appreciate the "bling" as much as I would, so I just let it be)
But the SCENT!!! OH the glorious scent! I chose the Rosewater & Ivy fragrance refill for my first try, but I'm excited to try Beautiful Day or Endless Weekend next. My daughter has the Stress Relief one, and she loves it as well. What I like about them (not ALL the fragrances mind you...some are rather potent!) is that they fill the vehicle with a beautiful, subtle scent without feeling like you walked into a cloud of perfume.
I never really understood Dry Shampoo. I'm a weird one that attempts to shower every day...that doesn't necessarily mean that I get my hair "done", but I like to feel clean. So, when I heard about the dry shampoo phenomenon, I thought it was the same thing as just putting baking soda or baby powder in your hair when it got too greasy...easy enuf, right?
Ummm...hello...this stuff SMELLS GOOD and NOT like you had an explosion while baking in the kitchen. I'm LOVING this little find because as the weather warms up (hopefully), I can't hide my greasy-before-shower-bed-head under a hat at the bus stop in the morning for much longer. Therefore, I just hold my hair up, spray this puppy all over and then brush it in...it's smells LOVERLY (as then do I) and I can proceed to the bus stop...
while still wearing my pajamas...ehem...
Last, but certainly not least are these fabulous Sunless Tanners...A couple years ago, I tried Rodan and Fields sunless tanner on a deal. The only thing that I wasn't overly crazy about was the fragrance (I have a weird nose)...however, it worked like a dream. I'm not sure HOW they do it, but it works with the color of your actual skin...it doesn't look like you've painted something orange onto your body, but rather a REAL TAN...or in my case: cover up the blue veins on the pastey white skin before you blind young children and embarrass your teenage daughters.
This year however, the cost was just a little bit more than I was wanting to spend at the moment, so I thought I'd give another brand a try. It has been lovely as well. I do enjoy the scent much better on the Jergens brand, however, it doesn't seem to be AS long lasting or as deep a color...although, for me, ANYTHING is an improvement, so I was perfectly content...
Soooo how did I end up with another Rodan & Fields bottle this year? Surprise of all surprises, I WON IT by having my name drawn...so, now my daughters will enjoy the Jergens if they so choose...although, they've mostly inherited their daddy's Italian skin coloring and are not plagued with 40+ year old legs with spider veins yet...so ya know...
I'll be using the Rodan & Fields Tanner the rest of Spring so that I'm ready for shorts and swimsuits this summer! If YOU'd like to try it, just message Amy HERE and mention this blog post and you'll get an extra 10% off the price :)
