The Fruit of the Spirit's not a Banana...

Yes, I realize that the title of this post is rather...ummm...how can I put it...

perhaps a tad "christianeeeze corny"?

I know, I know...just bear with me here...

The one positive side of having a back load of blogging to do, is the opportunity to go back and reminisce over past photo sessions...

Again, one of the reasons why I love photography, is an image's ability to be "worth 1000 words"...The images take me back in time...and the next thing I know, it's the end of August, the sun is shining and I met up with this family!

We had attended the same college at the same time and knew some of the same people...that's where all the "connection" came into play...

However, it had been years since I had been re-introduced to them...and now their 3 littles...

(okay, so this is where the post title comes in)

There is a crazy camp-ish song that my girls have sung and it talks about if ya wanna be a banana (or any other fruit name) you can't be a fruit of the spirit, because: the fruit of the spirit IS: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control...

*crickets*...noone understands my humor...

Anyway, my point is this...these children were amazing...not only were they FUN, giggly, and an all around JOY to play with...they were patient, obedient, kind-hearted...gentle with each other...I was IN AWE of their self-control & respect for not just their parents, but each other...

As I was sitting here at my computer trying to come up with words to describe my time with them...the "fruit" song popped into my head...because these kiddos (and their parents) easily exhibited these traits and it was such a pleasure hanging out with them!

Now, that may seem far-fetched to you, but I'm telling you...I encounter LOTS of kids everyday...be it volunteering in my girls' schools, photo shoots throughout the year, teaching...and kids like the ones in this session tend to stand out in my mind.  It's not because this family has "perfect genes"...I'm sure they deal with sibling rivalry and all the other things that we all face...

All I'm saying is that on this day...I could have stayed with them for hours more...they were a breath of fresh air...and I think you'll be able to tell through the smiles in their pictures...
