FAMILY SESSION: little men

I'm thankful for seasons...

Now, I'm not a huge proponent of "change" persay...because I know that can be sometimes scary or just shaky in my foundation...but, seasons are gradual (at least for the most part)...

I'm in a season of transition currently, as my eldest prepares to fly the nest, and my baby girl is learning so much independence...it's a season of long talks and navigating peers and responsibility...

but those earlier seasons...

those times of building blocks and dress up...the season of pretend cooking shows and dancing with daddy while watching Cinderella...the moments of bedtime stories and bathtoys...

THOSE were the seasons that prepared for the season of TODAY!

Seasons are not perfect...they do not often come in perfectly tied bows and pristine paper...

rather, they come in silly smiles and goofy faces...in group hugs and sibling races...in tackling daddy and clinging on mommy...

These are the moments within the season that are forming the foundations for the gradual changes that will come...

the moments that instill security, confidence, love, patience, boundaries, gentleness, commitment

...and the list goes on...

because THOSE are the things that matter most...

it's in the mundane...the imperfect perfection of FAMILY!

THIS is how they live out their lives...

this family showcased here...

Their season is hectic and busy right now...but they know they are, step-by-step, building their foundation...so that when one season transitions into the next, they have already set the groundwork, the bedrock, the safe place for their boys to stand...

It is a JOY to meet with them each year...to see them continue to do the "hard" work because they are definitely raising a few good men!!!
