Boy OH Boy!

August 16th marked the 15 year anniversary of when my little sister Sarah, went home to be with Jesus.  I've imagined countless times, what she might be like now...what would she look like...would she be married...would she have kids...would she still wear her hair short...the list of questions goes on and on...

When I met Beth for the first time, there was something about her that just clicked with me and I tried to put my finger on it...

And then I realized what it was...

She reminds me of Sarah...

They even share the same birthday month...I love being around her...I love the idea that I can have a friendship with someone "like" my sister, because I missed out on it with Sarah.

Beth is a mommy of two little boys...sweet, adorable, ALL boy boys...and I LOVE it!  I had the opportunity to take some photos of her newest little one and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed myself...even my Little Munchkin tagged along!  Her house is cozy and welcoming and filled with photos and memories and faces of loved ones...it felt like home!

Hope you enjoy some of my favorites...be sure to click on the slideshow to see many more...

This next one is for his Daddy...

Photo Exercise

So, for the past few days I've been glued to my computer screen watching an online workshop with my favorite wedding photographer.  When I say glued, I really mean that I've blasted the sound and tried to get a load of  laundry in, feed my Little Munchkin and down a few Pepsis along the way:)  All the while, I'm carrying around my notebook of which I have scribbled about 10 pages of notes...

I've learned soooo much and it's been such fun to listen to another photographer and to process new ways to sharpen my craft...

One of the exercises that was REALLY neat, as well as challenging, was to try to come up with 10 different styles of photos without ever having your subject move out of a 10 x 10 space.

Seeing that I didn't necessarily have a wedding couple at my figure tips in the middle of the afternoon AND since I'm such an immediate gratification person, I swooped upon my middle child and came up with "almost" 10 shots before she discovered her scooter and had to run off...however, I must say, that we had some fun in the process...and it took less than 5 minutes!!!  woohoo...

It's exciting to begin to stretch your brain to think quickly and see the "art" in the environment around you...learning to stylize what you have is intriguing to me...I'm a "let's see what we can do with this Stuff" sort of person...(although you DON'T want to see my basement with that motto)  However, it is fun to work with what you have in photography and make it into what you want...

Here are the shots that I got...

Okay...so if you haven't noticed, I'm kinda counting on you NOT being able to count...
But, to my defense, I only had ONE subject, not two, to work with...so I'm thinkin' that 7 different shots, in the same basic location, for a rambunctous little girl who wants to ride her scooter...that's not so bad right?

and with that, I"ll leave you with a rather "edgy" image that I caught right after she ducked into the garage to grab the scooter...don't mind the extra set of pink legs..that's just Little Munchkin waiting for HER turn next...

Three Words

Fun-loving, sweet, natural

These are words that I think describe Megan.  We've been neighbors for about 4 years now and I adore her family.  My little girls ride all her old bikes and she always waves to them whenever she comes by on an evening ride with her Daddy on the golf cart through the neighborhood.

She knows how to dress it up, and she knows how to carry herself naturally.  I really admire her spunk, and her down-to-earth qualities.  I had a great time as we shot in a crisp, overcast morning...finding multiple settings and having fun jumping fences:)

I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites and be sure to click the link to watch the slideshow!

Sisters

I have 3 daughters.  So, obviously, I LOVE LOVE LOVE little girls!  I love how they like to pick flowers, twirl dresses, play with dolls, brush their hair...their squeals and laughter bring a smile to my face.  These two sisters are no exception...
I fell in love with their big blue eyes...

and their sweet personalities...

With my older girls heading off to school this week, I must admit that I'm a little nostalgic...I'm remembering when they were this little and almost wishing I could turn back time...

I know that their Mommy is soaking up every moment...and she's loving it...how could you not with these cuties???

What a great morning we had just having fun, doing "girlie" things and capturing some memories for mom and dad to last a lifetime!!

Thank you "D" family for allowing me the opportunity to photograph your girls!

Colors!!!

Imagine with me...birthing 6 children.

Okay...now if you are male and are reading this, perhaps that is taking it a little too far...but the fact of the matter is to visualize having six kids and what that would look like...

are you there yet?

I have a feeling that if you tried to envision how the dynamics may work in a family like that, you still wouldn't come close to this family...

I met Lynn about 4 or 5 years ago.

Get this:  she was teaching a parenting class that I desperately was attending!  She knows her stuff...she ought to...she has six blessings on which to practice!!! I adore her and I learned so much.  However, this was the first time that I had actually met all of her children face to face.

I was NOT disappointed...but my oh my...with a full house like that you get all the colors of the spectrum!  I'm amazed by the abilities of Lynn and her husband...not only how they have raised such kind-hearted, good-natured, funny, and all around great kids...but how the relationships interact...

I saw teasing and laughing, hugging and sweet words, goofing and sincere lovin'!!

Thanks you all for letting me spend the morning keeping a camera in your faces!  I had a GREAT time!

Yep....put a bunch of cousins in one place and just watch what happens...

You get LOTS of lovin'...

And...they are ohhhhhhhhhhhh so worth it!
