SENIOR SESSION: Katie

During our session we decided (or probably more me :) that "sophistication" is a word that describes Katie. There's nothing wrong with the playful, giggly side of a person...however, Katie allows her independent, confident side to take the lead.  We are a bit opposite in personality, but that made our time together all the more enjoyable...because I literally stand in awe of those that seemingly have a beautiful self-control...

(the right side of my brain and my sanguine-ness often get the better of me...that and the curse of "say-whatever-comes-into-my-brain" disease)

Katie is serene and modern, yet minimalistic when it comes to the showy, excess stuff.

We settled on just two outfits, and spent much of the time in her favorite one. She knows herself well and we looked for ways to showcase that personality.

This is her last sneak peek before her gallery is delivered!

Congratulations Katie...you are inspiring!

SENIOR SESSION: Will

I met Will last year when he took some Fencing pictures with the Senior gal I was photographing that Fall. It was his voice that caught my attention right off...

He's got that announcer type voice...you know, the deep, authoritative, easy-listening type voice?

It's going to work well for him since he's looking into the fields of broadcasting...and even though his little sister says, "Will has a face for radio!", I have no doubt that even if he ventured into TV broadcasting, he wouldn't have an issue at all.

I don't get to spend a LOT of time with Seniors, but I can get somewhat of a vibe while walking around and listening to friends and parents talk about them (throughout wardrobe changes, etc)

The 2nd thing that struck me about Will, is his adherence to integrity.

He's the type of person that wants to do the right thing, even when noone is looking. His mom describes him as incredibly thoughtful...someone that looks to the needs of others before his own...

What an incredible tribute!!  What character...this is a leader in the making!

SENIOR SESSION: Kelly

Both daughters will be in high school next year...

Infact, we are some of the "lucky" ones that get to transfer to the NEW school.  As parents, we are spinning it in a good light...we are pointing out all the advantages and exciting opportunities that await them...

And yet,

I know, mixed in with all that, is a feeling of "loss"...

I imagine that Seniors feel that bittersweet feeling this year as well...

Senior year is a year of "lasts"...it's exciting, you wouldn't trade it for anything...but, you also know it's the last time you'll be in high school...the last time, you'll be with the same group of people everyday, 5 days a week for an entire school year...

I'm amazed at the maturity I see in the Seniors that I have met this year for photo sessions...

In my mind, my daughters are still toddling around...but, I blinked my eyes and they are grown...they are even friends with some of these Seniors this year and I'm realizing that I only have a couple more years before it's ME in the parental driver's seat of Senior year.

Kelly is laid-back in nature...and she's taking all this change in stride...

I'm not saying that it doesn't phase her...but, she's mentally and emotionally preparing...she's making plans and building into relationships...

I was so impressed with her outlook, her ideas, her future hopes & dreams...

We were ALL.OVER.TOWN. for her session and I was so excited with the new little nooks and crannies we found.  She's beautiful in any setting, so it made it doubly exciting:)

Congrats Kelly!  Have a SUPERB Senior year!

SENIOR SESSION: Melina

When I first met her, I felt like I had met my niece's doppelganger...

does anyone else have those moments of seeing people and thinking they remind you someone else?  It could be the hair or the smile or mannerisms...

I had a lady last night come up to introduce herself...and for weeks, we'd see each other at church and could not, for the life of us, figure out from where we knew each other...

come to find out...she was my daughter's bus drive a long time ago...I laughed because I told her, "oh man, you've seen me in my pajamas!!!"

Melina is just as sweet as my niece (if I do say so myself) and perhaps that's what drew me to her.  Yes, she has the same coloring, long hair, and plays soccer just like my niece, (infact, I get to see them challenge each other at Tuesday's game) but, it was that smile and playful innocence that gets me every time...

I've met the most amazing Seniors from the Class of 2018 and Melina is as wonderful as they come!  She's focused, strong and confident, but she's also humble, playful and pretty chill!

We had a wonderful time together and I even got to visit some of her favorite areas to run...just another element to her "story"!

Congrats Melina!

SENIOR SESSION: Chris

This Olentangy Liberty HS Senior is reserved, introspective, thoughtful, and incredibly courteous. For Senior guy sessions, my goal is to make it as "painless" as possible...this means, working fast, clicking faster and doing my best to make it as leisurely as I can...

because, let's face it...when you get some time off school or it's the weekend, the LAST thing you are actually WANTING to do is, change outfits 2-3 times and smile in front of a camera for a couple of hours....and I get that...

I love my senior sessions with the guys, probably because I don't have sons of my own and I miss my years teaching...watching those boys that rough-housed at recess and brought me notes in my classroom or challenged me to kickball or basketball, back in the day...

Chris has an easiness about him that makes him not only approachable, but trustworthy. I appreciated his kindness...I have no doubt he's headed for an incredible future!
