Grandpa & his girls

It was a gift given in the Winter.  The simple fact is that so often, we as adults, focus so much on the "little ones" in our lives that we often exclude ourselves in pictures.  Little ones are adorable and cute and they have the most adorable expressions...and so we excuse ourselves from being in the picture in order to let them shine.

What I realize however, after look back through pictures, is that I have so few pictures of me with my grandparents...

My mom did the same thing...she must have thought that my siblings and I looked sweet and Grandma would just run back behind her to "make us smile" instead of being IN the picture with us...

isn't that how it often is?

Not this time though...oh, sure we got some "Just girls" pictures...how can you resist when they are so adorable and fun-loving with each other...but, Grandpa needed some pictures with his GIRLS!!!

His daughter has two little girls of her own...so we made sure to include them all so that he can not just brag about them, but it will be evidenced that he is right there with them!!!

What a treasure and memory they will have.  You can tell by the pictures that they adore this man! I was privileged to have the opportunity to spend a sweet morning with them all!

Leaving...on a jet plane...

I honestly can't remember when I actually met Betsy...but from that moment, I have been inspired by her!  She has 2 older sons, one of whom is in the military and I know her mother heart worries constantly.  I've spent many 'a evening sitting down at my computer and remembering to pray for her & her son.

And then, in the midst of that, she has these sweet younger bundles who are just a HOOT...a hoot I tell ya...to spend time with!  Their personalities shine fuller each time we meet up...

I'm sad because they are heading out East..(actually they are already packed up and moved as I write this)  It was our last opportunity, for awhile, to get some family pictures and the boys' birthday surprise...

She is a dedicated wife and mother...her sons all love her...and I admire the way she shows her devotion to her husband and guides her lovely family!

wishing you the BEST sweet friend!!!

Long Time Coming...

We talked so much prior to meeting that I felt like we were long lost friends already...

See...what happens when you have 4 kids, all in sports, all in school...a dashing husband who has travel & work...a sweet mom tries so hard to find just ONE little iota of time when EVERYONE can be together...and doggone it, it's HARD!

So...Shawna and I just kept talking and emailing and texting and talking some more...changing a time here, a date there, a different location..but by golly, we did it!!!

I could tell by our conversations that these moments together with her family were something that she'd been wanting for awhile....It's hard to gather everyone together, in one place...kids grow up so fast and get involved in so many things and though sibling ties are strong, when you throw friends and sports  and schoolwork into the mix, you are often hard pressed to find time to just BE with each other...

And so, that's what we aimed for...time for fun and laughter and just BEing...

I'm always amazed at the inner workings of family units...the dynamics that are brought to the table by dad, mom, oldest, middle, babies...I had such an incredible time just listening to them...watching them...I found similar ties between them and yet, each individual had a confidence in and of themselves...

It's a rock solid family...and that my friends, makes my heart sing...

The stories of how mom & dad met, the growing up on a farm, soccer, school work...these are more were all spilled whilst we walked around the homestead...I loved the little moments and the closeness that was evident....

Here are just a few pics for the blog, but be sure to check out facebook to see more candids later this evening :)

Thank you so much for being determined to get these pictures...I think your family is beautiful!!!  I hope you will be able to cherish these for many years to come!!!
