Is Winter over yet?

It's about this time of year where I get sorta lonely...

The cold keeps everyone indoors...someone is always fighting some sort of "sickness", there is a type of gloom that sometimes hangs over everything as we all await spring.

don't get me wrong...there are moments of FUN in this wintry season...we love sledding with friends and getting together with family for holidays and such...and after a jam packed fall, it is a welcome relaxer...

However...it's as we are entering the "long haul" of the season that I start to miss all those families that I met in the fall...their relationships are energizing...I find myself wondering how they are...wondering if newbies are beginning to crawl, how little ones are doing in preschool...how moms are handling the balance between work and carrying for the kiddos...

The people that I am privileged to photograph are more than just faces on a digital file...WHO they are stares back at me from the screen and I am reminded of the laughter and sweet conversations that were had as we strolled through a park or ran across a field chasing squeals and giggles...

I am thrilled each year when families call back and set up another session...another time to just BE themselves and let me interact with them...

Life is really all about relationship...and I'm not immune to the impact it has...

I see these little girls' faces and I am instantly transported back in time...remembering her telling me stories and holding my hand while we walked around the campus for this photo shoot...

I think you'll see what I see as you scroll through some of my favorites :)

If this guy had a doppleganger, I'm pretty sure it would be Superman!

NO...I'm not joking...

He reminds me of Clark Kent...he's got the hair, the height, the charming personality and the glasses...

He's probably not going to be too keen on the fact that I just compared him to Superman...but, I'm going to play ignorant on this one...considering his dad is one of the pastors at my church and he's been known to "tease" him from the "pulpit" :)

In all seriousness though...he is a really neat guy!  I had a fun time just walking around the family property and just enjoying his company along with his parents.  He has quiet confidence about him and a side that is completely hilarious!!! I know that his parents are proud of him and have every right to be so...

See...Man of Steel...what did I tell you???

There's no BUDDY like a brother...

I had such an incredible fall...

I can't even begin to tell you about all the amazing families that I met...

Don't get me wrong...I enjoy weddings, I love cuddling newborns...but oh....there is just something about hanging out with a family..

watching siblings interact...chat with a mom...mom to mom...smile when I catch a dad just smirking as his kids' personalities just shine and we all start laughing!

It's what life is all about:  RELATIONSHIP

And the people I meet GET that...They want me to capture that on "film"...they understand that life is more than just paying bills and getting on the right team...it's more than 3 square meals, getting good grades or even getting to work on time...

When it comes down to...it's about doing life together...it's about the bonds that are made between mom and dad...brother to brother...parent to child...these are the things that last...

This incredible family gets it too...it was plain to see what was important in their household...because it came out without any prodding from me...I asked them to be themselves...let's go for a walk, let's play together...and these are the types of images that graced the front of my lens...

I'm just so, so thankful for the amazing clients that come to me each year...it always fills me with such gladness and hope!!

Michigan??? Really???...ME TOO!

I know that this blog post title may be disturbing to some...

I've lived here in Buckeye Country long enough to realize that you just don't mess with the OSU fans...I get it...

Let's face it, I already knew it before I got here to good ole' Columbus...having been born and raised just south of Detroit...and...well, that other city...AA...

Before I belt out an ole "hail to the victors...", let me just stop right there and remind all those reading that I birthed 3 little girls that are Buckeyes true and true...they can't help that their mother was born Maize & Blue ...

Where am I going with all this you ask???

Well, it's not often that I run into others from that state up north...let alone run into someone and discover that our very own fathers both live off of the SAME STREET in the SAME TINY TOWN just over the border...

We just started talking on the phone...we had such fun conversations and email exchanges...I couldn't wait to meet them all in person...we kept hoping from one topic to the next and discovered that tidbit of sweet similarity...

and then when I met them...and their kiddos...I just KNEW I had met a kindred spirit!!!

They moved here with a dream...and their passion and excitement is contagious...

The whole family is involved with the family business...a swim school...and so it made sense to take some family pictures near WATER :)

It was a beautiful fall day, with incredible light and beautiful scenery!

Oh the fun I had making these little guys laugh!!!

And as always, it makes me so incredibly happy to see couples in love...ones that are ready to take on LIFE together...they are a TEAM!

We got some fun shots for their school about to open in APRIL of 2014!!!  Go check out their site here:
GOLDFISH: Swim School

I can't wait to be there opening day!!!  I hope you will join us as well...This family is amazing and I know they are going to do amazing things!!!
