The Investment

Quality photography is definitely an investment! And I may not be for everyone (yep, this IS a business) I wish it weren't the case, as I'd love to serve everyone,  but I am a wife & mom to 3 daughters and balancing the needs of family/school/activities gets hectic for all of us.  I have a passion for photography...and the business aspect of CT PhotoMemories, helps to contribute to supporting the family.

There are many costs associated with legitimately running a photography business, including education, licensing, equipment, research, software, and great deal of time both for a session & the behind the scenes work of processing & communication.

For each client, I spend several hours of time.  We consult about location and clothing.  I travel to the location, photograph the session, and then head back home. Depending on the type of session, this could be between 30 minutes to 4 hours. I then open all those beautiful files and carefully select the best images...the ones that best depict my style and showcase my clients' personalities. (as a side note, you may not see EVERY picture for which you were "posing",  professional discretion is used in choosing images) For each file, I do a custom edit, choosing the exact enhancements and modifications that will make each image stand alone, and yet work together with the entire session.  Finally, I take those images, upload them to an online gallery linked to a professional printing company so that those high resolution images may be delivered immediately to my clients.

I work a little differently than other area photographers, but I have found that this system is simple, affordable and allows my clients greater control over their images!  If you compare my pricing to other professional photographers that have my similar style & quality, you will find that my pricing is low...considerably so, when you factor in that you also receive "digital images" instead of a print credit. (if you even get down to nickel/diming it, you'll see that per image is mere pennies for what is received in my session costs)

I take a great risk by working this way in that I give over the control of my "art" into the hands of my clients.  Once you receive images, you are given a release form to print however many images you may desire.  Because my highest form of advertisement is word of mouth and what others see in the homes of my clients, I depend on my clients to use good judgment in their printing.

When you invest money and time and energy into a family session with CTPhotoMemories, it is in your best interest to also invest in getting professional prints.  Therefore, I offer an online gallery that is linked with a professional printing company used by photographers worldwide.  I control the price lists, and so that my clients have the optimal opportunity to choose the BEST print quality...I set the print pricing at retail/base prices.

With each session, I offer this online gallery, where all your images are already uploaded and ready to go!  You can also be rest assured that all order "pass by" me first...therefore, if you are nervous about cropping or making sure that each picture will be "just right", I will double check your order before sending it along for printing!

It is my hope, that clients will choose to print through the gallery, therefore receiving professional prints that they can showcase in their homes...and also receive the digital images that they can share on facebook and blogs and with family around the world.  In this, all people get to see the BEST quality images from a session.

Although I try NOT to increase my pricing each year, due to additional equipment, and insurance, price changes must occur periodically (typically every 2-3 years).
In addition, because my pricing is already low and I've learned to produce quality compositions in a rather short period of time (30-45 minutes), I do not offer mini-sessions.  Should circumstances force my costs higher, I would consider adding mini-sessions into my repertoire of offerings.

It is my desire to provide full, moment-capturing, fun-filled experiences in my sessions, and I do so hope to continue offering low-cost regular family sessions for the amazing people I have the privilege of meeting each year.

Family Session

This session is set up specifically for families (up to 6 persons*).  The session is fun, relaxed and is meant to capture your family as it is!

I KNOW that everyone wants that "perfect" traditional photo...and I understand that...I promise that we'll try for it, just so that grandparents and traditionalists alike, can have that one that "seems" like the norm...

However, I'm into being authentic and seeing the REAL you!...it's the capturing of emotion, special "looks", the little things that you never want to forget...the seemingly insignificant details... I try to move fast, click fast, make you feel comfortable and get as many shots as I possibly can. My goal is to capture PERSONALITIES of the people whom I'm photographing...

I encourage parents to play with their kids...kids to run and wander (some have been known to attack mud puddles!!!)...make the time a memory, not a hassle. I will do everything in my ability to get you some good shots that will get you that twinkle in the eye or silly grin!

These sessions typically run up to 30 minutes.  I click fast, move fast and capture all the ins and outs until I have what I need.
This Session Fee is $125.  For this price you will receive:

The time, the talent/eye, my equipment, a fun time with your loved ones AND a CD  of 15 high resolution images from your session. You will also receive a release form that allows you to print as many images as you want.

This includes a "sneak peek" of a few of the pictures on this website as well as my facebook CTPhotoMemories page.

Typically, I am able to edit at least 15 (sometimes 20) really nice shots that best depict my style of photography*. With the  photo release form you are then able to take those images and post them to your blog or facebook...and also get them printed at whatever size and however many prints you'd like. To make the most of your professional photography session however, I would HIGHLY encourage that you get your photos professionally printed instead of using a drugstore or online snapshot company...

As an added bonus, I want you to be able to get professional prints at a reasonable price...therefore instead of requiring you to purchase print packages, I set up a gallery through a professional printing company and set the pricing at their base prices.  In this way, you get TRUE professional hard copy prints,  but not have to pay that much more than a shutterfly or costco cost.

For an extra $25 I will include all the shots in black/white or sepia tone along with the full color version.

*During your photo session, you will recognize that I shoot what seems like a "gazillion" pictures...from that, I choose those that best depict my style...therefore, you may not see certain "poses" or settings of which you remember...it's best to be sure that you like my style before booking a session:)

**I also do "reunion-esque" photo sessions, which include multiple family groups and large group pictures.  I have created a different pricing package for those types of sessions, due to number of people and length of sessions.  Please contact me for specific pricing.

((pricing is subject to change at any time due to increase in equipment costs, etc))

What to Wear?

Oh my...what to wear?

Remember that I'm all about being authentic...being just as you are...so if that means that little sister is in a tutu and big brother is in jeans, Mom has a sweater and pashmina, and Dad has is OSU shirt on...so be it! That's the moment you want to remember...That's being YOU!

If we stick with basics though:  I would stick with solids or two toned patterns with clothing...something that depicts your style...

Now, before you "tsk tsk" me and shake your head...know that I am able to "enhance" your photos by changing them to black and white or sepia tones or any color to make it "appear" more uniform if that's what you wish...

Have fun and enjoy!

Senior Portraits Session

Beginning NOW...Summer 2010!!!

Senior Portrait time is always a fun experience!  You've made it through the longggg years of elementary, middle and finally high school!  What a great way to commemorate all that you have become and are still becoming!

Because I am a photographer that loves to capture personality, and because Seniors are multi-faceted individuals, I like to take a longer and more detailed approach to these sessions than I would in a regular family session.

I still move fast, click fast and shoot from different angles...but, we're wanting to capture as many "sides" to your individual personality as we can...therefore, we look for many natural backdrops that would enhance the "story" we're wanting to tell.

This session typically runs about an hour.  We can have however many clothing changes and location changes that you may want within that time allottment. Some location ideas might include: Westerville:  Everal Barn, Otterbein College, Alum Creek...Powell/Delaware: Railroads, Splash park, Orange park, High Banks park, downtown Powell...etc. If you would like more time than that, there is an additional fee per half hour.

The fee for this session is $250.
It includes:

The time (shooting session and editing of the images), talent and equipment along with a CD and shared copyright print release on your choice of 30 of the edited/processed high resolution images that we capture (this will be 30-50 images depending on the number of location choices and travel time involved).  I will spend time not only editing these images, but enhancing them by adding different tones, colors, and filters to really make your personality POP!  You will also receive 5 x 7 print proofs of the images that you choose.  If you'd like to purchase additional digital images, it is an additional $15 per image file.
You may then take those images and enlarge, crop and print to your heart's content.

If you would like for me to do all your cropping and printing for you, I will be happy to provide you with a price list upon request.  I am able to print individualized, round cornered wallets as well as all other sizes that you may need.

If you'd like an album to commorate the time, we can also discuss that option once you've seen all your photos and I can quote you an estimate at that time.
