FULL FAMILY SESSION: It rained...again...

If you've been following on social media you'll know that of the past few full family sessions that I've had scheduled, it has RAINED.

On any other normal occasion, we'd reschedule...everyone would typically live in town and it would be a semi-easy switch...

this is not the case with FULL family sessions...

you see, we aren't working with just ONE family unit, but multiple family units and 9 times out of 10, those families are only in town for a select period of time...and usually that window of time is brief!

Thus was the case with this family AND the last one...

And so, as we watched the radar turned green and red and we weren't imagining Christmas, but rather..."how in the world do we get this accomplished???"

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that I DO get a little anxious about times like this...

I worry that my camera won't live up to my expectations and it's maker's promises...
I worry about slipping or kiddos falling into puddles...
I fret about lighting and locations and trying to keep everyone's attention amidst the looming clouds...

All these and about 2304984598345 other things are going through my head all at the same time...

it's not because I'm necessarily worried about "perfection"...but rather, I KNOW that it's the EXPERIENCE that people are going to remember...

When these images are brought up at reunions and looked through in books...it's going to be talked about...and the FEELING that each person had is going to be locked in their hearts & minds...
and it's my job to "create" that atmosphere even during the storm!

I need not have worried with this family though...

off came my flip flops and out came Uncle Jay and his nephew, with their choo choo train impersonations...

The raindrops may have been falling, but there wasn't a frown on anyone's face...

They value the time together more than the perfection of sun rays streaming through the skies...
they recognize that relationship trumps beautiful foliage or puffy white clouds...
they realize that a picture is more than just an image...
it's a story!

Lots of LOVE this day...what a pleasure and honor to have fun in the rain with them!

SENIOR SESSION: Noah CO2019

Okay...

just imagine with me, if you will...

what it might be like to be apart of this family...

I'm not saying that your family or my family isn't a hoot and a half...no, no, no...

all I'm asking is for you to just put on the shoes of Noah for a second and see if you can visualize his daily interactions with his family...

From the outset, Noah appears to be a very well-rounded, happy-go-lucky, confident young adult...
and after spending time with him, I would still agree with that evaluation...

as you scroll through these pictures, however, you will start to see his parents popping up...

pssst: this is where the imagining part comes in...

I'm going to venture to say that Noah never need doubt that he is loved...he never needs to think that he, along with his siblings, aren't his parents TOP priority...NOPE!

Listen, I know these blog posts are "supposed" to be all about the actual individual being photographed...but, part of Noah's story has greatly to do with his upbringing, with his relationships...with the people who have helped to shape him into the remarkable young man that he has become!

You won't be able to scroll to the end without at LEAST a giggle...

We actually went through these same "shenanigans" with Noah's older sister as well...

Evidence again to prove that they are so, so loved and that focusing on what matters most, and making the most of the time you have with those that you love, makes all the difference in the world!!!

Congratulations Noah!  You are one in a million! (and I kinda think your parents agree!)

What this picture ACTUALLY looked like!

FAMILY SESSION: Making Lemonade!

They've had their fair share of challenges this past year...

but, as that crazy saying goes..."when life gives you lemons..."

This momma makes some pretty amazing lemonade!!!

Her spirit and determination...her unending, deep down, "gotta know it" JOY is inspiring...I don't really have other words to describe it...

She's real and honest and lays it at His feet...no covering it up or pretending it's all okay...

nope...

she's the real deal...and through it all...she clings to Hope and Truth!

She was so excited to finally be able to use her Christmas gift of a family photo session just before all the crazy of Fall hit...

and so, we soaked up the sunshine and got as many "together" pictures as we could conjure! Her beautiful daughters and son caught on with the laughter (and a few giggles) and we had ourselves quite the morning!!!

Here's to sparkling lemonade and joyful hearts!

FAMILY SESSION: Rain, Rain Go Away...

They were in from India and DubBai ...

This was our CHANCE...our moment...between arrivals, departures, jet lag and all.the.visits. we were determined to get pictures with the WHOLE CREW...

BUT...

with Ohio as the "home base"..you just never know what weather is going to bring...

and for us, that meant RAIN...

It started out as just a little sprinkle that blew over in a matter a minutes...and so we scurried off to snap a few together pictures quickly...thinking, "surely, we'll be okay...the rain has gone..."

Friends...we were wrong...very wrong...

About 15 minutes into our time, the rain came down in buckets...we were huddled under trees attempting to protect tops and hair....

But, that's the thing about a Family Session Experience...it's not JUST about the pictures...

it's about the MEMORY...the MOMENTS...the HAPPY that just bubbles to the surface when you are all in it together...

We definitely were able to snap some images that captured cousin love and sibling amusement...there were hugs and enough laughter to go around...

and in the midst of it...noone cared about the rain because it made the story that much more meaningful...memorable...and FUN!

The rain stopped again, after the downpour, and we couldn't help the HAPPY that sprung up at the hilarity of it all...

I hope this experience lives with them forever...as they continue to look at these pictures, I hope they remember the FEELING of that day...uncles making nieces and nephews squeal...puddle jumping in the rain...squeezing out wet hair...

but most of all...the JOY of being together!!!
