SENIOR: JJ Class of 2018

I wish I could say that I'm some sort of "dog whisperer", but sadly...as evidenced by my own Pippa pup at home, I am not the world's greatest "dog mom"...

However, when asked to photograph sweet pets in Senior or Family sessions because they are FAMILY, it's almost impossible for me to turn them down...I may not get them all looking and I have been known to get licked, barked at and jumped on...I give it all I've got...because, as I mentioned, they are family too!

JJ is surrounded by people that love him and encourage him...he has so many facets to his personality, and much of them revolve around two specific things: relationship and music

He's had his fair share of sorrow in these first 18 years of life...at the same time, he dove into the realm of music and rhythm and is now able to connect with beauty and sound in ways that others don't often take the time to listen to...he's a fantastic big brother and loves on his family & dogs with his whole heart.

It was a pleasure to work with him!

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE WORDS FOR YOUR CRAZY PHOTOGRAPHER :)

SENIOR SESSION: Alissa

I actually love when Seniors bring along a friend...it tends to make laughing easy and rounds out the whole Senior Experience!

Alissa brought along her cousin and the 3 of us had beautiful time.

People ask a lot about "what to wear" and "how many outfits" for a typical session...I liked Alissa's natural take on it...

She started off with something feminine but casual...something that is telling of HER and her personality...I like the soft cream, and the little details, even down to the small necklace...

She then stepped it up a little with a dress...flowy so that it worked in both classic settings but also in a field of green...I like that Seniors often bring something a little extra to their sessions...it's not perhaps what they'd wear on an everyday occurrence, but it taps into a different facet of their personality.

Lastly, she chose strictly casual...the everyday Alissa...and I loved that...because again, it's about remembering WHO you are in this season...it's showcasing the YOU of 2017/2018 and not just "Sunday best" but the everyday...remembering the seemingly mundane, but the moments of just what life brings.

Alissa is a quiet, kind soul...with a subtle confidence that was refreshing.

Can't wait to delivery her entire gallery soon!

SENIOR SESSION : Nick

It's starting to kick into high gear folks...

School starts TOMORROW for lots of us and the only thing that keeps running through my mind is, "where the heck has the summer gone?"

I know, I know...we say that every year...time "feels" like its flying, but mostly it's just because we're all so caught up in LIFE that it doesn't occur to us to watch the clock or the calendar...we're just doing life and enjoying our people!

But, regardless of whether I'm ready or not...it's coming...another year...

I have one in HS, one ins MS and one is Elementary...
each one has their individual activity for the Fall and the homework helping, driving to and from, and to do lists will now resume...

I know one day that I'll wake up and even THAT will change...because they'll all be graduated and off being independent adults...

It's what our goal is as a parent...to love on them and provide security, stability, encouragement and discipline...so that they can go out confidently into the world...

Senior Sessions are becoming more and more poignant to me...reflective...REAL...

Because I'm a mom, I think I probably see students in a different light...there is a smile I'm looking for...a story that I want to tell...because, for me (and for each students' mom) it's not just about a pretty picture...it's about commemorating, celebrating the years, trying to bottle up all the years so we can remember!

Nick did an awesome job...y'all know that guys aren't the most enthusiastic about senior sessions, but they LOVE THEIR MOMMAS and so they are incredibly compliant and kind and polite and quite frankly, just the sweetest in the world...

He's a young one entering his Senior year too...having a fall birthday, like myself, we both entered our senior years as 16 year olds...and yet he handles himself with a great maturity and humility.

Enjoy!

FULL FAMILY SESSION: Give me a smirk

Here's my thing...

I know that picture taking isn't for everyone...especially in the morning...when you have to travel after having had to get up early and get all "prettified"...

because I know this...because, for heavens sake THAT IS ME...I'm not a morning person either and really, why do you think I like to be the on HOLDING the camera?  ummm, because I'd rather do that than be in front of it!!!

And so...when I know people have made the effort for the love of their family...you better believe I'm going to attempt to make it as painless as possible...and perhaps *gasp* even semi-enjoyable :)

For those that know me well, you are rolling your eyes at this point...because you know that if necessary, I'll do cartwheels...I can tell bad jokes, make fun of myself, tease, throw a little sarcasm...I'm happy to do whatever I can to make everyone forget the early morning alarm clock or the ironing of the clothes or the application of all things beauty...

because when it comes down to it, it's a memory...it's an experience...with your family...and THAT is what matters most...

This family had ME laughing from the beginning...their wit and quiet charm...oh, I was having a heyday with the lot of them! And when I saw the smirks make their appearances and we got the "right out laughs" I got completely caught up in their revelry and had a blast!

They are a sweet group, with hilarious sibling dynamics that made me miss my brother all the more!

I think you'll enjoy their images as well!

FAMILY SESSION: 4 under 4

Their ages are 4, 3, 2, and 1

A group of energetic, giggly, soul-sister, Italian cousins!!!

We all had our misgivings, wondering what would happen when we let them all loose...

To watch them play ring around the rosey and beg to roll down the hills and run across the field...their energy was boundless and their love for one another was evident!

It was a special request of their grandparents for this session...to get all 4 girls in one place at the same time...to capture their smiles, their uniqueness and yet showcase the relationship that binds them all together.

The weather was perfect and the sky was clear...the denim jumpers were donned and off they went...

and even with a quick outfit change in the middle...the juggling of apples and spying of animals kept them laughing and eager to please.

I think you'll enjoy this little ragtag group of sweetums!!!
