SENIOR SESSION: Madi

Every person is an individual...

Ummm, yes Colleen...good job on stating the obvious...

Going further, what I mean to say, is that everyone has their own quirks and personality, style and sense of humor.  My job as a photographer is to discover what that is and try to pull it out and showcase it...

Settings are important to an extent, but mostly, I'm looking for genuineness...I think in terms of "story"...everyone's story is interesting...it's "worth reading"...and therefore, I want to "publish" it in a way that helps friends and family and unknown viewers to come away feeling as though they've got a good impression of this "character's" disposition just by looking at the images I post...

Madi has a style all her own...and we had fun collaborating...shifting and sliding into scenarios that showed all the different facets of her personality...

she's got some tomboy in her, but this incredible, striking sophistication that commands attention too...

I loved how she easily transitioned into each part of her personality...and by the end, when we really got her in her element, her smile was beaming! (scroll to the bottom to see)

Congratulations Madi on a wonderful Senior year!!!

SENIOR SESSION: Sophie

She's natural and spunky and silly and beautiful...

She's insightful and thoughtful...and she's a hugger!

I was beyond thrilled to spend time with Sophie for her Senior Session...

She's gracious and humble...and still has that spunky little streak that gets you laughing so hard you almost pee your pants!!!

I'm excited to see what lies ahead for her future...I have no doubt that she will touch lives in ways that she probably can't even fathom, because she's just too busy loving on them in the meantime...

Congratulations Gorgeous...on a Senior year filled with lots of fun and all the JOY that you bring to it!

FAMILY SESSION: Morning Glow

I saw a momma carrying her toddler out of Meijer yesterday.

She had her daughter on her hip, whilst pushing the grocery cart...The toddler girl was holding onto her doll and talking animatedly while her momma was trying to balance and steer at the same time.

It made me smile...

Those were physically taxing years...the lack of sleep, coupled with the ever-constant demand on one's time...it is exhausting...and yet, with determination, selflessness and gratitude, mommas push on...

Fortunate are those that catch on quickly that life won't ever be perfect, but if you are able to embrace the beautiful mess that is your own..if you can hold close and take deep joy in watch you've been given...ever so slowly, the comparisons and anxieties start to wash away just a bit...because you realize that you are the best momma for your littles...that they were given specifically to YOU...

This sweet-natured family has had a glimpse of that reality...they take joy in the little things and aren't aiming for perfection, but rather aiming for moments...

At the top of my blog I have 3 words...

memorable, happy, meaningful

When I see mommas in parking lots or in sessions like this...I am reminded of the memories...of the times that we made the memories, together with my daughters...

Life isn't all happy, all the time...but there is joy...and in that happy joy, there is gratefulness and contentment...

and THAT makes everything that we do, mistakes and successes...they are all meaningful...because each relationship and each moment helps to define us, to shape us, to build us, to grow us...

I loved playing with their son and giggling as his daddy tickled him...
I smiled when their daughter's little cheeks puffed out as her big brother squeezed in close for a kiss...

These are the things we live for...

FAMILY SESSION: The Shoe

By now you must know that I grew up in Michigan...just a little south of Ann Arbor...many of my HS friends went to UofM and were wolverines through and through.

Let me just be honest and say that I don't really watch football...I don't understand it...I kind of rack it up there with euchre, volleyball and softball...activities that don't interest me all that much, but I'm still happy to let others enjoy it if I can talk :)  I'm not overly competitive unless it's in jest (or if I'm angry OR if it's against my brother...then I really want to win!)...

I'm getting off topic...

the point is, I come from a home and childhood friends that love the Maize and Blue...and then I went and married a Buckeye and then birthed 3 little "buckeyes" as well...

For awhile, I fought it...I thought I'd stay true to the blue...

and then I just got distracted by...well, I get distracted by just about anything...

I'm doing it again...getting all distracted...because the main point of this post is actually THE SHOE!  The OSU STADIUM!!!

Yes, this amazing family, rented out the stadium for an hour one Friday evening and invited their extended family to come join in the fun.  They walked through the tunnel, rolled on the turf, threw the ball around, sat in the bleachers...they were in heaven...and I got to sit back and watch it unfold...

What a sweet gift to their kiddos...what a privilege, a unique opportunity...

I DID bring my hubby along to help carry every lens I owned...I didn't want to regret not having something...AND having never been ON and actual football field outside of my little old high school one the night of the Homecoming game after I had fallen off the back of the car in the parade through town in my Homecoming Court dress...

ooops...did I just say that out loud...

my most embarrassing moment ever???

Yes, well...let's direct our attention back to the Buckeyes...

O-H-               I-O

Right, so, having never been on a college football field, I wanted to be sure I had everything I needed.

I loved their enthusiasm, their joy that they generously gave to their family...the wonder and excitement of it all was contagious...

Now you can view these images and wish you were there too!!!

Let's pretend I didn't get distracted either...
