FAMILY SESSION: redo

Little guy wasn't havin' it the first time around...

Let's face it, waking up from a nap and when all you want to do is get in your sweatpants and play legos, and Momma says we gotta get dressed up for pictures...well, it kinda puts a damper on your day...

I get it...

and to be honest, I've been there...

life is messy and crazy and unpredictable...

and we have a choice...

there are so many...so, so many things that I can't control...

I may "think" I can, but in reality, I don't have any say or authority on the matter...

all I can do is look at my own heart and make a decision...

it doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed, or that I wish it could be a different way...but, it also doesn't mean that I stop doing the next right thing with a heart of thankfulness...

quite the contrary...

This family leads by example...

their session might not have been what they envisioned in the beginning...
but what they DID NOT model to their children was
anger, yelling, saying frustrated words to their kids, using guilt or shame to force them

what they DID model was:

I love you
We are family and it just isn't working the way we thought and we'll try to fix it, but if not, we're still together...and this is still US!

Fortunately, we WERE able to meet up again and little man was feeling better and we combined the two sessions into one...

and I know them well enough to know that not only will their modeling of the situation to their kids be something that will be remembered for a long time, but, the whole experience will become something that bonds them closer...

and truly...THAT is what family pictures should REALLY be all about in the first place!

  (totally love this photo bomb)
