FULL FAMILY SESSION: It rained...again...

If you've been following on social media you'll know that of the past few full family sessions that I've had scheduled, it has RAINED.

On any other normal occasion, we'd reschedule...everyone would typically live in town and it would be a semi-easy switch...

this is not the case with FULL family sessions...

you see, we aren't working with just ONE family unit, but multiple family units and 9 times out of 10, those families are only in town for a select period of time...and usually that window of time is brief!

Thus was the case with this family AND the last one...

And so, as we watched the radar turned green and red and we weren't imagining Christmas, but rather..."how in the world do we get this accomplished???"

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that I DO get a little anxious about times like this...

I worry that my camera won't live up to my expectations and it's maker's promises...
I worry about slipping or kiddos falling into puddles...
I fret about lighting and locations and trying to keep everyone's attention amidst the looming clouds...

All these and about 2304984598345 other things are going through my head all at the same time...

it's not because I'm necessarily worried about "perfection"...but rather, I KNOW that it's the EXPERIENCE that people are going to remember...

When these images are brought up at reunions and looked through in books...it's going to be talked about...and the FEELING that each person had is going to be locked in their hearts & minds...
and it's my job to "create" that atmosphere even during the storm!

I need not have worried with this family though...

off came my flip flops and out came Uncle Jay and his nephew, with their choo choo train impersonations...

The raindrops may have been falling, but there wasn't a frown on anyone's face...

They value the time together more than the perfection of sun rays streaming through the skies...
they recognize that relationship trumps beautiful foliage or puffy white clouds...
they realize that a picture is more than just an image...
it's a story!

Lots of LOVE this day...what a pleasure and honor to have fun in the rain with them!
