FAMILY SESSION: all the boys

Anytime you are in the public eye OR you have your own business where your success depends solely on how others perceive and enjoy your product, you've got to have rather "thick skin".

and to be honest, I do not do this well.

I tend to pour MYSELF into my "business"...maybe all art is like that?

When you create something from your own mind's eye, there is an attachment to the actual product...you FEEL everything that goes into it.

Perhaps I started getting practice when my toddlers would fuss at a meal that I had lovingly spent hours cooking for them...there is a level of giving your all and KNOWING that you've done your best...

HOWEVER...

I can't even begin to express that ultimate joy there is when people COME BACK...year after year...

"they like me...they really like me!"

I sound like Pat from SNL...I know, I know...

but it's true...

This family started coming to me before their youngest was even born...

they've overlooked my disorganization at times...and my sporadic train of thought as I jump from topic to topic on a shoot...

they give me such grace when I'm figuring out light and that, after they've put all the behind the scenes work into getting ALL.THE.BOYS. ready!!!

They are kind, gracious, and all around good natured...ALL.OF.THEM!!!

I look forward to their session every year, because I walk into a session feeling known...

and isn't that what it's all about anyway...

making an impact through relationships...every day...in the little moments?

They are mastering this idea as they train up their boys...

it's pretty awesome!
