Cousins = Best Friend

"Cousins are those childhood
playmates that grow up to be forever friends"

All of my cousins are nearly a generation younger than me.  When my brother and I interacted with our cousins, it was more like the older sibling/mothering type role.  We don't have cousins on my Dad's side of the family and we didn't really get to see my Mom's siblings all that much.  Because of that, there is a part of me that wonders what it would have been like...especially after watching my own children interact with their cousins on both sides of the family.

We have family pyramids, and performance plays...vacations and sleepovers...messaging and phone calls...

Infact, my niece was over all day yesterday hanging out...they've done camp together...soccer...
She has become a "sister of the heart" in our house of girls...

I'm thankful for those relationships...for the bonds made...

When I was contacted about doing a little "cousin" photo shoot earlier in the fall, I was excited to do so! It's amazing to me how "sibling-like" cousins can be...and I think that has a lot to do with the connections that are made.

Sure, there are different homes and maybe even different parenting styles or perhaps even beliefs, but there is a tie that is strong, protective, almost unbreakable...

These 3 were goofy and fun...playful and shy...rambunctous and fun-loving!
Their parents are committed to keeping those friendships tight! The boys acted like brothers, and kept their unique personalities and worked together in their adventures...little sis followed behind but had an energy all her own!!!
