FAMILY SESSION: Sometimes you need a sprinkle donut

When I look back on my life when my girls were little...

the time when I was homeschooling my first grader and preschooler and I had just given birth to my baby girl...we had a garden out back and the power went out a lot in our "out in the boonies" country home...

I remember not really having the time to worry about name brand clothing or the latest show on TV...my book reading often consisted of Eric Carle board books or E.B. White read alouds...

I was in the "throes" of parenthood...where I was physically needed 24/7...

I squeeze my eyes shut and try to let my mind sift back through the memories and the years...sometimes it feels like such a blur...

We have our "sit in front of the Christmas tree" photos and the typical cheesy grinned shots...but LIFE...the actual LIVING part...

the moments of:
eating green peas for the first time...
taking first steps...
squishy faced grins in the midst of a toybox mess...
pots& pans emptied from cupboards...

those times of "imperfection" are actually my favorite...

They remind me of a life well-lived!

This family wanted a "memory" of their time too...

of taking a walk with family...exploring a new place...and even celebrating with a sprinkle donut or two!

And it always amazes me, the differences in personality of each child in a family...all coming from the same parents, but each an individual...

the giggles, the expressions, the unique way of seeing their environment...

And yet...they all pull it together, like pieces to a puzzle to create a beautiful picture...

My husband and I look back and try to remember how those pieces came together over the years...we laugh and reminisce (as I'm sure this mom/dad team will do as well) and then we bask in the life we've made together...

and it's a wonderful masterpiece...

with sprinkles :)
