FAMILY SESSION: Buckeyes and Boogers

I know that's a crazy title for a blog post...

In another post someday, I'm going to share pictures of my OWN family, from back in the day ...to the time when my youngest baby girl wouldn't smile for a camera AT ALL...

Every single time a camera came out during those early preschool years, she wore a scowl...

Not exactly what you hope to see as a momma...
because I've seen her laugh...
I've seen her BELLY laugh...
and when she's happy, I'm happy...
so it makes sense that all momma's want their kiddos to be happy...
especially when documenting something on camera!!!

Sometimes, I have the privilege of meeting families that have a wide range of personality...
we may have some members that are outgoing, gregarious, adventurous little ones...
and in that same family we have shy, quiet ones as well...

It's how it is in my family too...so I'm used it...

My job as the photographer is to document the REAL and the raw...
sometimes that means perhaps more stoic expressions...

BUT far be it from me to stop there...

The  littlest guy in this family tends to be a bit more shy...especially when this crazy, talkative, LOUD lady starts coming at everyone with a camera...

I don't blame him one bit...

And so...we tried different tactics to coax out some smiles...

and, at one point, yes, we were talking boogers...

it's not beneath me people...not one bit!

Because you see...after awhile, I hope everyone sees that I'm just normal...well, okay, maybe more towards the crazy end of normal, but I'm just a regular person...and this regular person may sometimes be loud, but I can also be silly and fun and goofy...

and if that makes you happy, then I've done my job well...

by the end, that little guy was wearing some big ole smiles and laughing with the rest of them...his big sister (who is a twin with his big brother) holds a special place in his heart...

you can tell that all 3 of them, though vastly different in personalities, are extremely loyal and protective of each other...

it's a beautiful gift their parents have guided them to cultivate...

what a wonderful blessing of family!
