FULL FAMILY SESSION: 55 years...it's worthy of celebrating!!!

Love is not a noun.

Maybe you've heard that somewhere before...

I don't claim to have things all masterfully figured out in the realm of relationships and love...I can only speak to my own childhood, my own experience...

There are books written everyday about love and marriage and relationships in general...

I've read lots of them throughout my years...

What I do recognize, as a common theme through it all...is that LOVE is not a noun...but rather, it's an action verb...

And to every action...there is a REaction...

So, if I put in selfish love, "what can I get out of it" love, "people pleasing" love, "manipulative" love...I will more than likely come away disappointed, dejected, and feeling used.

However, when I choose to love from something deeper...it could mean "tough" love, or "disciplining" love, and more often than not, "sacrificial" love, "unconditional" love...

it's when I practice that type of "action" love, that my lovetank (if you will) tends to feel not so empty...

I would venture to say, that a 55 year celebration of marriage has not been based on what each of these wonderful individuals could squeeze out of the other, but rather what they could GIVE to each other...

based on my short time with them, interacting with their children & grandchildren...

I would have to say that their 55 years of LOVE has been based on something deeper than a "feeling"...that it has had to walk many a miles, when perhaps it felt like it'd rather take a nap...that little moments of CHOOSING to love have made all the difference...

and what is amazing, is that the REaction from their commitment and staying-power,
is this long-lasting, true FEELING of love that accompanies their action...

Full Family Sessions are quite different than my "norm"...

It requires immense SPEED on my part, in order to get ALLLL the littles to keep their "happy" for a longer period of time than a typical family session...multi-generational group shots, along with individuals, family units and individuals, all while watching the sunlight, taking constant stock of energy levels and triple checking the people list ;)

There is something incredibly special to be a small part of these types of sessions as well...they are unique because they do not happen often...it's crazy difficult to get that many schedules together at the same time...and so, for that to actually happen...to be there with grandparents and grandchildren...it's a moment in time that we want to freeze, in order to cherish for the future!
