FAMILY SESSION: for love of the monkey

I'm currently reading a book entitled: The Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown

Have you ever heard of "Imperfection" being a "gift"?

I'm a recovering perfectionist and I still struggle with comparing myself to everyone & everything...

it's rather exhausting to be honest...

because in my mind's eye, I never measure up...

like...EVER!!

However, photography has helped me in many ways to "embrace the now"...to "let go of who I think I'm supposed to be in everyone else's mind" and just BE the person I am...right now...in THESE moments...

photography helps me because, I get to "freeze" moments in time...

Moments that otherwise might go unnoticed...
moments that will inevitably change in the future...
moments that show growth and happy and the meaningful things...

***

This little guy loves his stuffed animal...
for some reason, he latched onto it...

the thing is, it won't always be like that...
this is just him in the NOW...

and I'm a bit envious of his security in that...

but, I'm more in awe of his parents that not only understand it, but completely and utterly embrace it...

they see the "gift" of the imperfection of having the little stuffed monkey in their family pictures...

they could have left it at home or in the car...but they knew that wasn't "real"...
and they are all about living life to the fullest...imperfections and all...
