Energy times 2

My daughters are out of the toddler stage by quite a few years...

They need me in completely different ways now than when they were younger.

The most I get to "help" with dressing at this point is maybe getting to do their hair once in awhile...

they don't need me to help button pants or shirts...they tie their own shoes...They even do their own laundry at this stage of the game...

Now...while that does alleviate a bit of the "physical needing" of my girls, it definitely transitions into other "needing areas"...

I saw all this because, whilst in the toddler/early preschool years...I remember being exhausted...

As in...my legs hurt from running everywhere...I had muscles in my arms from carrying them to and from parking lots into stores...I don't remember sitting down, except to read stories to them...but, regardless, I was ALWAYS.BUSY!!!

I'm older now...so even though it may seem like more "physical work", I wear out faster (ha ha)...so I still "feel" that busy...

HOWEVER...when I watch families...with the never ending energy of their little ones...I'm reminded...

I'm reminded of

the curiosity
the running
the jumping
the asking a gazillion questions
the singing...laughing...dancing...
the constant MOVING...

and it makes my heart smile...

I see the faces of these moms & dads that relish in the opportunity to parent...that realize the value of time well-spent...regardless of the "tired" at the end of the day...

It is a privilege and honor to know these people...to be a participant in sharing in their "snapshot" of life...

I know all too well, how fast those moments go...
how seasons transition one into the next...

This family embodies all that I described above...and they welcome it with open arms and joy!
