snapshop michigan
You can read an even more indepth description HERE
(PAST SNAPSHOP ATTENDEES...skim down to the bottom of this post for a special treat for YOU)
But let me try to give you the scoop...
You've got a great camera (a digital SLR, where the lens can come off) and you assumed you'd get better pictures using IT rather than your iphone or your old point and shoot.
However, outside of a few lucky shots, they aren't looking as awesome as you had hoped...
I believe that everyone (artsy or not) can learn how to be a "photo journalist" or a "storyteller" through pictures...you just need some tips and tools...
First, you need to adjust your "view"...Seeing life through the lens requires some different ways of viewing moments as they happen...it takes practice and sometimes getting out of your comfort zone.
Secondly, you need to know what your camera is capable of AND whether you need any other "tools" (i.e. lenses) that will help you capture the image as you imagine it in your mind's eye.
Once you've got some of those tools and start to grasp the mechanics...then comes the practice part...
You don't learn your multiplication facts in one day...the same with photography...you'll master the easier steps quickly and you'll see improvement immediately...but, it will take practice to continue getting better and better.
SNAPSHOPS are workshops that give you the tools and information...and then we'll spend some time afterwards practicing and using that information practically.
I'm coming to Michigan for a family visit in June and thought I'd hold a workshop there for those interested. Here's the information:
