Snap Shop (#2) success!

We had another successful SnapShop class this weekend and it was incredible!  Not only did I just love the ladies that attended, but I was honored to get that feeling every teacher craves when her students "get it"...

Oh my...the light went off and these gals were off and running...they got some blurry backgrounds, they were figuring out their camera settings...it was all starting to come together...

Thanks to Tracey for snapping a few pics of me in the middle of the class...just getting me in action once again...

For those unfamiliar with this class and maybe just need a little more information and understanding before you take that big plunge into the realm of MANUAL on your camera...here's how the class works...

We start off with a welcome where you receive a packet of information.  I slowly go through the class notes so that you understand the basic flow of the class.  Also inside your packet is a booklet that I wrote that acts as a quick reference guide for you...you can stick it in your camera bag and refer to it as needed.  The ladies this weekend used it quite a bit when we got outside and started practicing...

Then we get down to business.  Being a visual learner, I use a slideshow to show examples of everything that I'm talking about.  You have your camera with you 100% of the time...we work through examples and I use lots of word pictures to help you gain an understanding of how your camera works.
I go through my philosophy of photography and how it applies to being a photo-journalist for your family.  I'm first and foremost a wife and mom who adores her family...I want to help other people learn how to document their lives and the lives of their children...I have a heart for those wanting to capture moments that can stand alone in an image...
After this section of the class we work our way into the mechanics of our cameras.  We haul out the manuals and the lenses and anything else that will help us better understand what we are about to undertake!  I teach you all about words like aperture, shutterspeed and ISO and how they work together...I don't use big techie words...and if you ask me about some specifics of "why" something works a certain way, I probably won't understand it myself, but I CAN tell you what it actually does and how it works for YOU.

I tend to be a little eccentric and lively:)  I do anything and everything I can to help you understand and then be able to apply what you are learning!
After I've talked so much and your head may feel like it's going to explode and your toes are tingling b/c you just can't wait to get out there and use what you've learned...we grab a quick bite to eat to store up on some energy and then we head outside to PRACTICE...

Yours Truly acts as your model and we set up different situations like full shade, full sun, indoor lighting, catching action and/or getting those "bokeh" blurry backgrounds...

Once class is finished, you leave feeling empowered with information and confidence to go home and capture LIFE through your lens.  It really is worth the time and moneys...

If you are interested in a SnapShop class in the future, please email me, leave a comment here on the site or head over to my facebook page and leave a comment there.  I'd love to set up another SnapShop here in the Columbus area sometime late summer or early fall.

I am looking to schedule a SnapShop and Click It class in Woodhaven, Michigan on July 9th.  Please email me asap ifyou are interested!

Be sure to inquire about CLICK IT as well...Adobe Photoshop Elements is an excellent tool that you can use to not only enhance your photos but take them to the next level so that you can create storyboards, cards and more for yourself and your extended family.
